Chain Works District

Chain Works District

Ithaca, NY

Mixed-Use | Development

At its earliest conception, the Chain Works District project aimed to transform an 821,200 square vacant industrial space on a 95-acre parcel into a revitalized mixed-use “live, work, play” district in Ithaca, NY. The project intends to redevelop the former Emerson Power Transmission plant to include apartments, office spaces, a small business incubator and flex space, gardens and park space, and areas devoted to manufacturing. From 2012 to 2015 WPD coordinated the site planning, public outreach, and preliminary municipal reviews for this project, working in conjunction with: Harter, Secrest, and Emery; Chaintreuil, Jensen, and Stark Architects; Austin + Mergold; Fagan Engineers and Land Surveyors; Stream Collaborative; La Bella P.C.; SRF & Associates; Randall+West; Johnson-Schmidt & Associates ArchitectsBrous Consulting; and D.I.R.T studios.
