The Argos Inn is a beautifully restored LEED platinum-certified historic mansion near downtown Ithaca. In 2017, this project received a New York Preservation League Excellence Award for the historical preservation of the site, building, and landscape, and its use of ground-source heating and cooling beneath the parking lot. WPD collaborated with metal, stone, and plaster artists to design the lovely outdoor space with playful touches that complement the historic building, including an outdoor patio that features an amphitheater seating area for hotel guests, custom cast railings, and site-specific in-ground LED lighting, which were installed at a time when illuminated pavers were not readily or commercially available. Now the previously derelict building has become one of the most sought-after spaces for accommodations, specialty cocktails, and events for the Ithaca community.
