Ithaca Farmers Market

The Ithaca Farmers Market Access Enhancements project intends to retrofit the existing market pavilion and its waterfront site. The project’s primary program elements include a partial all-weather venue for farmers, artisans, and chefs to connect directly with their customers. WPD’s site redesign will improve A.D.A. accessibility, pedestrian access, and vehicular access for fire and buses. The redesign will also reconfigure the parking area, adding paved surfacing and green amenities, such as rain gardens and electric vehicle charging stations. WPD’s role involves municipal approvals and ensuring that the site design meets grant funding requirements, as well as public outreach, as we coordinate with vendors through surveys, workshops, and public meetings. In working together with Market’s board members, the existing pavilion’s original architect, and the project’s design and engineering teams, WPD is balancing the needs of vendors and their customers while retaining the Market’s cherished and historic character.
